Tree and Shrub Preservation

Tree & Shrub Preservation Program

We, at Countrybrook Farms, want to provide our customers with prime plant material and customer service. One of the best ways to accomplish having healthy, long lasting plants is by seasonal hand pruning and plant specific fertilizing. Investing in our Tree &Shrub Preservation Program will allow you to have the healthiest and best looking trees and shrubs in your neighborhood for years to come!

Benefits of our Tree & Shrub Preservation Program
Pruning is a very detailed task that requires a wealth of knowledge regarding various plants. A pruning specialist is knowledgeable in proper plant structure, soil specifications, health, as well as its blooming and pruning schedule. The use of a professional is imperative in order to avoid causing a tree or shrub to become weakened and/or stressed due to improper pruning methods. Ourtree &shrub specialist will also suggest or implement regular shrub specific fertilizing, soil treatments, watering techniques, composting and proper mulching to help establish trees & shrubs to optimum health that live longer than you and I.

Being part of our Tree & Shrub Preservation Program is like having your own personal hands on landscape designer/consultant. When on site, our specialist will not only be pruning and fertilizing, but can also take the time to walk your property to help point out potential problems or suggest possible design ideas. When needed, you will receive written assessments on your property and plants. You will have the opportunity to build a personable relationship with one person that will price out, perform the work, provide landscape design services and work with you and your budget to preserve your investment.

This service is not limited to small/newly planted trees and shrubs but for the mature and established as well. Countrybrook Farms has the personnel and ability to climb and maintain 100' + trees. We not only want to care for your younger and smaller plant material, we want take what is natural and established and blend it into the landscape surrounding your home. It is such a tragedy to lose any plant material, new or old due to a lack of care. This program will give you the best protection for your landscape investment. Consider Countrybrook Farms, Tree & Shrub Preservation Program to care for your property.

Hand Pruning vs. Sheering
Contrary to popular belief, sheering is NOT the same as pruning. Sheering is a mass removal of any growth that a sheer comes in contact with. This method not only takes away from a plant's natural growth characteristic and proper structure, but it also promotes an excess of immature growth. This immature growth will deprive a plant of nutrients and drought tolerance. Although this method gives the plant a smooth appearance, it causes plants to be stressed over time which can result in the plant drying out and dying. When done year after year the immature growth will soon turninto large mature growth and the entire shrub will be no longer maintainable in a smaller size like most that sheer desire.

Natural/Hand Pruning is a technique that gives trees and shrubs a beautiful, natural silhouette. All work is done with bypass hand pruners and hand saws. Branches that are dead, rubbing, crossing or unnecessary are removed. This allows proper air flow through the crown and promotes an ideal environment for the process of photosynthesis to take place, conditioning the plant to optimum health & prosperity. By removing what the plant does not need to survive, the nutrients are distributed through the plant more evenly and effectively. This allows the plant to flush out more blooms or fruit and promote overall healthier looking foliage. It is also imperative that the pruning cut is made in the right area of the stock that is being removed. When cuts are made to far from or too close to the parent branch/terminal leader, the tree will not heal and die back. This creates a weakened and disease prone plant that is not efficient in self sustainability. This technique is also the best way to keep a tree or shrub in a dwarfed or smaller size than what it can grow to naturally.
